Our municipality has an area of ​​49.01 km2 and is 496 m. of altitude at sea level. 81% of the municipality is part of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of La Garrotxa. The historical-artistic ensemble is the best known emblem of our town. In addition, we have the Fageda d'en Jordà which is an exceptional beech forest at this altitude. Volcanoes are unique in the Iberian Peninsula (Santa Margarida, el Croscat, Roca Negra, Martinyà…). In terms of gastronomy, the most prized legume is Santa Pau beans; which in 2015 obtained the Protected Designation of Origin.
