Les Masies de Voltregà

The municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà is located in the northwest of the Plana de Vic (Osona), between the course of the river Ter and the first reliefs that end up forming the highlands of Lluçanès. It has a population of 3.140 inhabitants (2017) and an extension of 22.4 km². The term includes several nuclei: Gleva, Vinyoles, Poble-sec and Despujol which are where most of the population is concentrated and others less populated are Borrissola, Can Bondia, Conanglell, El Pou, Gallifa, Quintanes and Sant Miquel d'Ordeig and Colònia Lacambra, located in the northeast of the town. Despite the dispersion of the nuclei, the medieval base of its unit is the castle of Voltregà, located at one end of the municipality at the top of a peak at 854 m altitude. Also noteworthy are a number of historic farmhouses, from which the place name comes. The town is located in a natural environment that makes it unique as it is home to one of the few river islands in the Alt Ter, ideal for nesting and sighting burning birds. An ideal natural walk to enjoy nature and sports.
