Recognised as a Geo-botanic Nature Reserve in the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, La Moixina is always water logged, being the remnants of an ancient lake that filled the plain of Olot and dried up when a lava trail flowed down from the Croscat Volcano. The place is resplendent with alluring beauty, the subject matter of many poems and paintings by painters of the Olot School of Landscape Painting. This spectacular and beautiful landscape includes two of the best known springs in Olot: the Deu and the Moixina Springs.
